WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 -- The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare issued the following news release:
Twenty-nine year-old lawyer and advocate Cort VanOstran has garnered the endorsement of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. VanOstran is challenging incumbent Rep. Ann Wagner for her seat representing Missouri's 2nd congressional district. Wagner earned a scant 14 percent rating on the National Committee's legislative scorecard for the 115th Congress.
"Cort understands that looming deficits and calls for 'entitlement reform' will renew efforts to cut benefits and privatize Social Security, undermining the nation's most successful social insurance program. He appreciates that Social Security has not contributed to the nation's debt and its modest should not be cut. He fully recognizes that Medicare is crucial to the health of older Americans," said Max Richtman, President and CEO of the National Committee.
VanOstran is committed to defending Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid - and strengthening the Affordable Care Act. In Congress, he promises to "fight cuts to health care and protect your Medicare and Social Security."
"This is about so much more than an election," VanOstran says, "This is a fight to protect our future."
