Today the Minnesota Department of Commerce released final rates for the 2022 individual insurance market showing increases between 4.31% and 11.33% for health care consumers. Senate Majority Leader Jeremy Miller (R - Winona) released the following statement:
"Senate Republicans worked incredibly hard to put forward a reinsurance program that stabilized the individual health insurance market in 2017.
"Reinsurance not only stopped double-digit rate increases, it actually resulted in rate decreases for healthcare consumers.
"Despite this, our Democrat colleagues would not agree to fully fund reinsurance for two additional years and now rates are going up.
"I hope we are able to come together to fully fund the reinsurance extension and prevent future increases for the Minnesotans who rely on this important market for affordable health insurance."
