Former mortgage lender will lead recently launched practice within Alliant Financial Institutions

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Michael R. Smith has joined Alliant Insurance Services as Executive Vice President, Alliant Specialty, in the firm’s Financial Institutions industry vertical. Smith has extensive experience assessing the risk of companies that invest in, originate and/or service large loan portfolios. He delivers customized, loan-level and lender-placed insurance solutions that dovetail with existing corporate insurance programs. Smith will lead Alliant’s recently launched national Specialty Lending brokerage practice.

Smith is a former mortgage banker with 20+ years of lending experience and 15+ years focused in the insurance industry. He delivers comprehensive risk management strategies for lender and loan portfolio coverages that consider enterprise-wide risk tolerance, including corporate insurance, employee benefits, lender-placed insurance, real estate owned (REO) and mortgage impairment.
