Michael Deagle Named NAHU Region III Vice President

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

GENEVA,Ill., July 10 -- The National Association of Health Underwriters issued the following news release:

Michael Deagle was named Region IV vice president to the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) Board of Trustees at the 87th Annual Convention and Exhibition in Orlando, FL.

"We are delighted to welcome Mike as a regional vice president of NAHU," said Janet Trautwein, NAHU CEO. "Mike's foundation of knowledge and experience allows him to have a clear overview of pertinent issues in the marketplace, making him an excellent asset to the NAHU Board of Trustees."

In 1990, Deagle began his insurance career at Gardner & White in Worthington, Ohio, as a tax deferred annuity and pension enrollment specialist. In 1995, he moved to Chicago where he became the Chicago sales representative for the Physician's Benefits Trust, a self-funded trust and the sponsored health insurance program for the Illinois State and Chicago Medical Societies. Deagle ventured off and started his own insurance agency, Deagle Benefit Group, Inc., in 1999. From there, he partnered with three agency owners to merged their businesses to form BenAxis, Inc., in 2014.

Having over 25 years in the health insurance industry adds power to a professional such as Deagle's level of expertise. His specialty remains in the small to mid-sized market as he truly enjoys getting to know business owners on a professional and personal level. His goal has always been to provide clients with the best solutions for the employer and their employees. His expert knowledge and insights are frequently requested by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Clubs to speak on current healthcare issues.

Since 2006, Deagle has been a member of the Northern Illinois Association Health Underwriters (NIAHU) where he immediately became active, serving as membership, legislative and HUPAC chair positions. He also was the Illinois State AHU HUPAC chair since 2013 and Region III HUPAC Chair since 2015. After serving as NIAHU president for three separate terms, Deagle served as Illinois State AHU President from 2012-2013.

"Somebody once asked me why am I in NAHU leadership? The answer is simple: I have always wanted to give back to the organization that has helped me so much professionally and personally," said Deagle. "I am truly honored that I have been nominated to be Region III Vice President and I look forward to working very hard to make sure that our region is well represented on the NAHU Board of Trustees."

Deagle resides in Geneva, Illinois, with his wife Nancy and three children. Mike enjoys spending time with his family, exercising and rooting on his beloved Buckeyes and Chicago Cubs. He is an active member of the Geneva Rotary Club and has served as Rotary scholarship chair for the past five years. He is incoming Geneva Rotary co-president for the upcoming fiscal year and is active in his church.

The National Association of Health Underwriters represents more than 100,000 professional health insurance agents and brokers who provide insurance for millions of Americans. NAHU is headquartered in Washington, DC. For more information, visit our web site at www.nahu.org.
