NEW YORK (AP) _ MetLife Inc. (MET) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $132 million.
On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had net income of 13 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $2 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.55 per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $15.56 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $18.3 billion, which also topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $16.53 billion.
