Meridian Health Plan Rated as a Top National Medicaid Provider

DETROIT, Oct. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The NCQA has named Meridian Health Plan a top 2015-2016 multi-state Medicaid HMO. Meridian is the only multi-state plan in the nation to receive an overall rating of 4 out of 5 for all three Medicaid HMO products: Meridian Health Plan of Michigan, Meridian Health Plan of Illinois and Meridian Health Plan of Iowa. The NCQA Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2015-2016 are based on combined HEDIS^®, CAHPS and NCQA Health Plan Accreditation standards scores.

To award the top 10 Medicaid health insurance plans, NCQA evaluated 273 Medicaid health plans and ranked 136 of those based on clinical performance, member satisfaction and NCQA accreditation.

Additionally, Michigan and Illinois were awarded an accreditation status of "Commendable" for service and clinical quality that meet NCQA's rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement. NCQA Health Plan Accreditation evaluates the quality of health care that health plans provide to their members. NCQA Health Plan Accreditation status and NCQA's Health Insurance Plan Ratings status are separate designations.
