Medicaid workshops set for Tupelo

Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (Tupelo)

July 23--TUPELO -- The Division of Medicaid is hosting workshops for beneficiaries and health care providers in Tupelo this month.

For those who are covered by Medicaid's Mississippi Coordinated Access Network and Children's Health Insurance Program, a workshop will be offered 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lee County Library in Tupelo. The workshop will include door prizes and refreshments.

The MississippiCAN program is currently in its open enrollment period, where beneficiaries can choose among plans, through Aug. 31. This is the first year beneficiaries will have three choices for plans. Molina Healthcare joins Magnolia Health and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.

"The workshops (which are being offered around the state) are aimed at informing beneficiaries about their services and to answer any questions they have," said Matt Westerfield, Medicaid communications officer.

The workshops will also be offered July 30 in Moss Point, Aug. 13 in Pearl, Aug. 14 in Jackson and Aug. 16 in Laurel. Information on the managed care plans is also available at medicaid.ms.gov/programs/managed-care/.

Medicaid is also hosting two-day workshops for health care providers. In Tupelo, the provider workshop will be July 31 and Aug. 1 at the BancorpSouth Arena. Workshops are also planned in Raymond, Greenville, Gulfport and Hattiesburg.

Office directors, office managers, coders and billing staff are encouraged to attend the provider workshops, which are focused on updates and changes to Medicaid and the coordinated access networks. The program will include Magnolia Health, Molina Healthcare and UnitedHealthcare, as well as Conduent and eQHealth. Participants are encouraged to bring copies of claims and documentation of other issues to the workshop, where a help desk will be available.

Providers are asked to RSVP with facility name, provider ID, number of attendees and contact information by email to ProviderWkspReply@medicaid.ms.gov or by fax to (601) 359-4185.
