PURCHASE, N.Y. (AP) _ MBIA Inc. (MBI) on Monday reported a loss of $106 million in its first quarter.
The Purchase, New York-based company said it had a loss of $2.16 per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $2.36 per share.
The insurance and reinsurance company posted revenue of $72 million in the period.
MBIA shares have climbed 49% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $9.81, an increase of 30% in the last 12 months.
