Man arrested for public intoxication after walking up to traffic stop; other police reports

Jan. 26--Sherman Police

Public intoxication -- Officers conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 20 in the 2100 block of Texoma Parkway. While they were involved in the traffic stop, they were approached by a suspicious male who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Grayson County Jail.

Theft of firearm -- Dispatch spoke with a subject on Jan. 21 in the police department lobby in reference to a theft. The complainant reported that a suspect entered his unsecured vehicle in the 300 block of West King Street and removed a firearm. An offense report was generated.

Driving while license invalid -- Officers responded on Jan. 20 to a minor accident in the 1000 block of South Heritage Parkway. During their investigation, they learned that one of the drivers had a suspended driver's license and no insurance. A report was generated for driving with license invalid with previous conviction/suspended without financial responsibility.

Driving while intoxicated -- A traffic stop was conducted on Jan. 20 in the 2100 block of Texoma Parkway. The driver was suspected of being intoxicated. An investigation was conducted, and it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Driving while intoxicated -- Officers noticed a vehicle on Jan. 21 in the parking lot of a closed business in the 4200 block Texoma Parkway. The vehicle attempted to leave the area, but officers stopped the vehicle. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. The driver also had a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated, second offense.

Possession -- Officers were dispatched on Jan. 21 to the 400 block of East U.S. Highway 82 in reference to a theft. Upon officers' arrival, they made contact with the suspect. During the investigation narcotics were located and the suspect was arrested. A report for possession of a controlled substance less than one gram was filed.

Theft of property -- Dispatch received a call on Jan. 21 from a business in the 1800 block of Texoma Parkway. The caller reported a male causing a disturbance by yelling and cussing. The male also stole some items. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct, offensive language and theft of property less than $100.

Driving while intoxicated -- A traffic stop was conducted near the 2700 block of Texoma Parkway. An investigation was conducted and the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Theft of property -- Officers were dispatched on Jan. 22 to the 2600 block of Village Drive in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. Upon investigation, it was learned that a vehicle had been taken without permission during the night. A report for theft of property from $750-$2,500 was filed, and the vehicle's information was entered into TCIC/NCIC.

Burglary of a building -- Officers were dispatched on Jan. 22 to the 4800 block of Texoma Parkway in reference to a burglary. It was determined that a suspect broke out the glass front door of a business and stole several cellphones. A report for burglary of a building was generated.

Criminal mischief -- The public safety administrator was contacted on Jan. 23 by a male complainant in the 1000 block of East Odneal Street. He reported that a suspect had vandalized the mailbox at his residence.

Assault -- An officer was dispatched on Jan. 23 to the 1000 block of East Odneal Street in response to a disturbance. A husband and wife were involved in a physical altercation with very minor injuries. Neither wished to pursue charges. A report for assault/family violence was generated.

Burglary of a habitation -- Dispatch received a call on Jan. 23 from the 900 block of East Wells to report someone entering the residence and stealing items. Officers arrived and learned that the victim's residence had been forcibly entered. A report for burglary of a habitation was filed.

Criminal mischief -- The public service administrator responded on Jan. 23 to a female complainant in the 700 block of East Wells. She reported that sometime during the night, a suspect damaged the window of her vehicle. A report for criminal mischief was generated.

Criminal mischief -- A male complainant made phone contact on Jan. 23 with the public service administrator. He reported that property at his residence the 1000 block of South Crockett Street had been vandalized during the night.

Criminal mischief -- A male complainant made phone contact on Jan. 23 with the public safety administrator to report that a truck, appearing to be a wrecker, backed into the secondary driveway at his house in the 2500 block of Village Drive. The truck hit a chain and knocked down poles that were concreted in the ground, and then drove away.

Assault -- Officers were dispatched on Jan. 23 to 1900 block of Taylor Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, they spoke with all involved parties. A report for assault causes injury family member was filed.
