Luigi Mangione hires ex-producer Harvey Weinstein’s prison adviser

New York, Jan 2 (EFE) - Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old accused of gunning down UnitedHealthcare insurer CEO Brian Thompson, has hired the same 'prison consultant' as former producer Harvey Weinstein - who is awaiting a second sexual assault trial in prison - Page Six reported this week.
Rothfeld, who is now a reputed consultant, has spent time in prison for "white-collar crimes," according to the media outlet.
In late December, Mangione pleaded not guilty to all charges during a brief hearing, in which he consulted with defense attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo and prison consultant Rothfeld, according to NBC News.
Mangione, who was arrested in Pennsylvania after several days on the run and is now being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, has become a viral phenomenon with a large fan club on social media.
For his part Weinstein, 72, was sentenced in 2020 to 23 years in prison in New York for rape and sexual assault after a landmark trial for the #MeToo anti-sexual abuse movement, but last April he won an appeal to overturn that first trial arguing procedural errors, after which a new trial was ordered, to be held this 2025.
