A lightning strike caused a home to catch fire in Edgewater, displacing a large family, a city official said.
Edgewater firefighters responded around 3 p.m. Tuesday to the house at 213 Azalea Drive after a report of a lightning-caused fire, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

In all, the fire displaced three adults and six children, said Jill Danigel, a spokeswoman for the city of Edgewater.
The blaze caused approximately $80,000 in damage to the house, according to the city.
The homeowner had insurance and the American Red Cross is assisting the family, Danigel said.
No injuries were reported.
Lightning has caused two deaths in Florida this year, including one victim -- a Charlotte, N.C. man -- who was struck on the helmet while traveling on Interstate 95 near Daytona Beach.
