Liberty Promotes Beechey to New Global GFR Role

LONDON, England, Nov. 23 -- Liberty Specialty Markets, a specialty and commercial insurance and reinsurance provider, which is a part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, issued the following news release:

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance, has promoted Andrew Beechey to the new role of Head of Underwriting and Strategic Development for Global Financial Risks.

Andrew, who is currently based in Singapore as LSM's Head of Global Financial Risks for the Asia Pacific region, returns to London on 1 December to take up this global role. He will report to Peter Sprent, Head of Global Financial Risks.

Peter Sprent said: "In this era of relatively volatile and unpredictable economic conditions, it's clear there is significant demand for credit and political risk insurance from organisations that are active in the emerging and developed markets. Our GFR book has performed extremely well over the last few years and we've been able to establish ourselves as a major player in the global market.

"Andrew has done a fantastic job setting up GFR in Singapore and growing that business into a market leading position over the last few years. His promotion and move to London come as part of the overall expansion of our GFR team and the continued growth in our global business.

"Andrew's exceptional skills and leadership qualities are well suited to this new global role and provides us with greater coordination of our underwriting capabilities around the world".

Andrew joined LSM in 2014 from Zurich where he worked for nine years, becoming its deputy head of the London credit and political risk team. Prior to this, Andrew spent 10 years in the credit and political risk division of broker Marsh, based in both the US and UK.

A new appointment will be made shortly in LSM's Asia Pacific region to replace Andrew. Further announcements will be made soon.
