Letter: Harris’ health care policy makes her the best choice
Reading Eagle, Pa.Reading Eagle
On the issue of health care, the two presidential candidates couldn’t be more different. The Biden-Harris administration helped give Medicare the power to negotiate drug prices, limiting seniors’ out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs to $2,000 a year and capping insulin at $35 a month. Kamala Harris supports the Affordable Care Act, which has made health insurance available to millions of Americans. Donald Trump tried to repeal the ACA when he was president. He has no plan to replace it.
I am disabled and care for an elderly family member. Harris’ proposal for Medicare coverage of in-home health care would be life-changing for my family and many others. Right now there are many families who rely on daughters and granddaughters to provide free care. Those who provide care should be compensated fairly for their labor.
None of us knows when we will need medical care or become disabled ourselves. I’m voting to expand the safety net for me and everyone else.
