LCV Statement on Perry Confirmation Vote

WASHINGTON, March 2 -- The League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement by Deputy Legislative Director Alex Taurel in response to the Senate confirmation vote for Rick Perry for Secretary of Energy:

"Rick Perry has spent his career denying climate science and attacking our bedrock environmental and public health protections - when he remembers what they are.

"With his confirmation today as Energy Secretary, he becomes yet another member of President Trump's rigged cabinet that will prioritize polluters' profits over the health of the American people.

"At a time when Americans are already feeling the devastating effects of climate change, we urge Perry to prioritize our health and our clean energy future, rather than polluters' profits."
