Kynect Health Coverage hosting open enrollment event
News Enterprise (Elizabethtown, KY)
Those who might be losing their health insurance or need insurance have an opportunity that could help them navigate the application process.
Kynect Health Coverage, Kentucky's insurance marketplace, is having an open enrollment event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.Dec. 6 at the Goodwill Opportunity Center on Henry Street in Elizabethtown.
Kynector Heather Cain said her and other kynectors will be at the event to help those who need to apply for insurance through the marketplace and answer questions. Community partners also will be on hand to offer services.
"It's a good place for them to get their insurance questions answered and help with their applications as well," she said.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, restrictions were lifted which allowed more people to apply for and be granted Medicaid.
Now, since the public health emergency has ended, these restrictions are coming back, and some who have been using Medicaid will lose it if they don't meet the requirements.
For these residents and others who need a quality health plan through the marketplace and don't have insurance through an employer, open enrollment is available for it until Jan. 16.
Cain said her office covers 16 counties including Hardin County. She said their services are free to those who want them.
Those interested but cannot go to the event can go to kynect.ky.gov or call 1-855-4kynect for more information.
