Kirby new Compass CEO

Jan. 24--Compass Community Health Care Center would like to announce the recent appointment of Summer Kirby as interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Summer joined Compass in October of 2015 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a position she continues to hold. Prior to joining the organization as an employee, she served as a board member for approximately two years.

In addition to her duties as CFO at Compass Community Health, Summer is highly involved in the implementation of the 340B Drug Discount Program, preparation of application for the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), and Meaningful Use. Additionally, she is a key member of the organization, aiding in a recent Operational Site Visit (OSV), while maintaining focus on financial oversight of the organization. Summer is also actively involved in establishing and expanding the Federally Qualified Health Center framework for Compass Community Health.

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Summer earned a B.A. in Communications while working full-time at State Auto Insurance Company corporate headquarters. Upon completing her degree, she accepted a role as Credit Manager with Wells Fargo Financial Acceptance in Columbus. During this time, she was promptly promoted to Branch Manager, moved with the company to Dayton, Ohio, and was later appointed to oversee Wells Fargo Financial Acceptance's second largest branch in Ohio. Summer was responsible for recruiting and training staff, branch compliance, business development and collections.

Summer and her husband, Charles, returned back to their hometown of Portsmouth after the birth of their first child. She assumed a role with Fifth Third Bank and was consistently promoted to oversee multiple larger branch locations. During her Fifth Third career, Summer earned her Master of Business Administration from The University of Phoenix.

Summer was then given the opportunity to work with American Savings Bank (ASB), based out of Portsmouth. During her tenure with ASB she was responsible for the bank's business development, commercial lending, redesign of the organization's lending process, and oversight of the loan origination and processing department. She was an integral part in maintaining the bank's community presence and volunteered with many organizations.

Since her return to Scioto County, Summer has been actively involved in the community. She dedicates time to the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce, where she currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors. She previously held a Board position with The Counseling Center, Inc. and Compass Point Housing. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) and the Scioto County Health Coalition. Summer and her husband are actively involved in the academic and extra circular activities of their four children, ranging in age from 13 to 7 years old, as well as their church.
