KDP LAUNCHES PETITION TO ADDRESS PREVENTABLE SPIKE IN HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS
States News Service
The following information was released by the Kentucky Democratic Party:
Today, the Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) launched a petition to hold Republicans in Congress accountable for failing to protect Kentucky families from the devastating effects of skyrocketing health care costs.
With 200,000 Kentuckians already expected to lose health insurance under President Trump's federal budget, an additional 100,000 Kentuckians will see their premiums more than double in January as Republicans, including members of Kentucky's federal delegation, let health care tax credits expire for working families. More than half of those facing price hikes say they will no longer be able to afford coverage. The petition reads in part:
"Without action from the Republican-controlled Congress, health care premiums for millions of Americans will double or even triple overnight, forcing families to choose between paying for groceries or keeping their health insurance, or between paying the electric bill or going to the doctor when their child gets sick.
"Congress has the power to prevent this crisis. We urge Kentucky's Republican members of Congress to do the right thing and join Congressman Morgan McGarvey in extending health insurance tax credits for working families."
The petition will be sent to all Republican members of Kentucky's federal delegation, ensuring that, even as they fail to hold town halls and community events, they can't hide from the reality they're creating for hundreds of thousands of their constituents.
