Kan. Department of Insurance releases 2025 complaint index report

The report revealed that in 2025, the Department closed over 3,000 complaints falling within the six major lines of insurance: automobile, health (including HMOs), homeowners and renters, life, annuities, and long-term care.

In 2025, the largest number of complaints concerned automobile insurance (34%), homeowners and renters insurance (25%) and accident and health (18%). A large majority of total complaints (69%) concerned problems with claims handling. Other common types of complaints involved policyholder services, underwriting and marketing and sales.
