Nov. 9—WILLIMANTIC — K. L. Smith Agency LLC offers a wide variety of insurance plans for automobiles, homes, businesses and life at competitive rates.

The agency was started in 1953 by Kenneth L. Smith.

It expanded from a parttime business to a full- time operation in 1956, when Ken's brother, Royden Smith, bought the agency.

Royden increased the number of clients substantially over the years.

In 1978, Royden's son, Todd Smith, started working at the agency and his other son, Garth Smith, came on two years later. They wanted to follow in their father's footsteps and continue the family business.

" It was a family- run organization," Garth said. " My father and his brother were in it. Todd and I are second generation."

Today, Todd and Garth operate the agency on Royden's philosophy: provide clients with the best insurance products and personal service at the best price.

" We both have over 40 years of experience," Todd said of he and Garth's experience in the insurance industry. " We're local. We've been in Willimantic since 1953."

Todd is in charge of the personal insurance lines while Garth is in charge of the commercial insurance lines.

K. L. Smith offers auto insurance for cars, trucks, vans and small commercial vehicles. Plans can range from covering injuries to property damage and medical payments.
