From Heather Cox Richardson: "The Big, Beautiful Bill Republicans passed cut Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits as well as a slew of other programs. While it extended tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, Republicans permitted the premium tax credit for purchasing health insurance under the Affordable Healthcare Act to lapse at the end of this year. The end of that program is already sending healthcare insurance premiums skyrocketing."

If you want to check this out, just call your insurance company and ask what your premiums will be for next year and also ask them if premiums are expected to jump in 2027.

We will all know then, who is telling the truth about why the Democrats are allowing the shutdown of the government.
