John Lynn Pratt, Sr.

John Lynn Pratt, Sr., 81, of Lancaster, PA passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Homestead Village where he was a resident. He was born in Milford, DE, the son of the late Gene Litzenberg and Elizabeth (Brownell) Pratt. His wife Marilyn (Adenis) Pratt passed away in May, 2012.

He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and Franklin & Marshall College. John had a lifetime career in the life insurance business and was a Certified Life Underwriter. He worked for Penn Mutual and Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. before completing his career with his own business, J.L. Pratt and Associates. He was a former member of St. James Episcopal Church, Lancaster.

John will always be remembered for his charm, sense of humor, infectious smile, and love for his family and friends. He was an avid sailor throughout his life and enjoyed studying the history of railroads, woodworking, and model building.

Surviving are his children: John L. Pratt, Jr. the partner of Rey Perez of Wilmington, DE, Elizabeth B. married to Robert W. Edgerton of Shaker Heights, OH, Benjamin A. married to Olga T. Pratt of Lancaster, and his grandchildren: Sarah and Allison Edgerton, William Edgerton, Rebecca Pratt, and Emanuel J. "EJ" Pratt; and his sister, Lucille S. Pratt married to Angela Gresser of Niantic, CT.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Memorial Service at The Groffs Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 528 W. Orange St. (corner of W. Orange & Pine Streets), Lancaster, PA 17603 on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A private interment will take place in Christ Church Cemetery, Milford, DE.
