John Connor Named Chief Business Development Officer for MCUSA Consulting

Business Wire

BELLINGHAM, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
MCUSA Consulting announced today the appointment of John Connor as chief business development officer. In his new role, Connor will lead MCUSA’s efforts to transform the senior health insurance marketplace through the creation of Medicare options that blend value-based care principles with flexibility and transparency.

MCUSA Consulting is the consulting arm of MedicareCompareUSA, the nation’s largest Medicare insurance-solution network currently supporting more than 650 hospitals, health systems, physician groups and pharmacies from coast-to-coast.

“The senior health insurance space is badly in need of innovation as affordable, comprehensive Medicare coverage has become progressively difficult to find,” said Paul Gauthier, founding partner of MCUSA. “Medicare Advantage plans have not delivered as promised and supplemental health insurance has gotten too expensive. John’s deep background and dedication in this space makes him the perfect person to help forge a future of provider and patient engagement that will make health insurance more available, affordable and customized for our nation’s seniors.”

A veteran of the health insurance industry for more than a quarter of a century, Connor holds an MBA from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Boston College. In 2007 he launched the first private online health exchange offering Medicare products for a Fortune 500 employer. Soon after his company, Transition Assist, was acquired by MMC in 2014, Connor turned his focus from employers to providers, growing the value-based care program at eHealth from $4.5M to $29M within two years. Most recently, Connor served as vice president, business development for San Francisco-based FairSquare Medicare where he helped steer strategy and sales for the tech-forward insurance brokerage and innovative AI product developer.

“MCUSA has listened to the market which is demanding a system that is more efficient, more effective and easier to navigate,” said Connor. “The time is right for both providers and payers to take control of the future of Medicare in ways that bring value into the equation by optimally serving the senior community while maximizing their own revenue potential. I am particularly stimulated by the work MCUSA is doing in addressing insurance opportunities now made possible by the Office of Inspector General’s relaxation of PHOs and by insurers working more closely together with regulatory safe harbor protection.”

As the nation’s leader in its space, MedicareCompareUSA currently supports more than 650 hospitals, health systems, physician groups, and pharmacies from coast to coast who collectively care for more than 10% of the nation’s Medicare population. With its strong foundation and impressive track record, an increasing number of hospitals and doctors are looking to MedicareCompareUSA and its sister company, MCUSA Consulting, as an indispensable part of a proactive patient-communication and population-management strategy.
