JobsOhio projects list nearly 600 new area jobs

Feb. 10--JobsOhio made grants and loans available to five regional companies last month, in projects that represent the creation of nearly 600 new jobs, according to the organization's latest metrics.

Tower Partners LLC, whose industry JobsOhio lists as a "biohealth," was slated to receive a $1.4 million revitalization loan to create 300 new jobs in Montgomery County while retaining 1,750 jobs, according to the organization's monthly metrics report.

The loan is for work Tower Partners performed in Kettering Tower to accommodate CareSource's move to a couple of floors of that tower, Matt Englehart, a spokesman for JobsOhio, said Friday morning.

CareSource, a downtown Dayton-based Medicaid managed care provider and private health insurer, has moved about 250 new and existing jobs to the tower at 40 North Main St., which Tower Partners owns.

Englehart said the project represents 300 jobs new to Ohio.

CareSource Management Group Co. received a $300,000 "revitalization grant" in November 2016 for the same project, Englehart said. That project on the JobsOhio web site also lists 300 "new" jobs.

The new payroll in that project would amount to $15.9 million, with a fixed asset investment of nearly $3.4 million, JobsOhio said.

Tower Partners LLC bought the Kettering Tower in downtown Dayton in May 2012 for $6.4 million, county records show.

In Butler County, American Manpower Services received a $200,000 economic development grant to create 200 new jobs, with a $9 million payroll, according to JobsOhio.

Also in Butler County, JobsOhio made available a $45,000 workforce grant to Saf-Holland Inc., an automotive company. That project would create 30 new jobs and retain 29 existing jobs, JobsOhio's report says.

In Greene County, Fro-Tech Inc. received $42,000 economic development grant to create 45 new jobs and retain 22 jobs, with a fixed asset investment of $311,000.

In Clark County, Spectra Jet Inc., an aviation company, was slated to get a $70,000 economic development grant in a project said to create 22 jobs and retaining 23 jobs.

Projects included in JobsOhio's monthly metrics reports must have "an executed agreement" between JobsOhio and the companies in question, JobsOhio says.
