When Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell speaks in Jackson Hole later this week, there will be no shortage of critics lurking to parse his every comment. His near-universal theme is that the Fed has done too little too late to stem rising inflation. Powell, the argument goes, relied on the mistaken view that inflation in 2021 would be transitory.
