James W. Christofic, 68, of Palmyra, has left this life to be with his loving father in Heaven on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Born in Al-toona, PA, he was the son of Andy and Betty (Hershberger) Christofic.
Jim proudly served in the United States Marine Corps with the Frist Marine AirWing from 1966 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. Jim worked for Auments IGA as a bakery manager and later Driesbach Specialties as a Bakery Technician. He also worked for Globe Life Insurance Company while in Oregon and Equitable Insurance while in West Virginia. He collected coins, painted ponies, painted wolves and anything dealing with the Old West. Jim enjoyed writing poetry and had several published in "Todays Greatest Poems." He received several awards for his poems including a silver and bronze trophy for poet of merit.
Jim is survived by two daughters, Lori Lynn Christofic, of Elizabethtown, and Shirley Ann Reigle wife of Anthony, of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Judy Kepler wife of Gary, of James Creek, PA, Nancy Christofic, of Elizabethtown, Debbie Helt wife of Roy, of Elizabethtown, and Candance Aston, of Elizabethtown; a brother, Terry Christofic, of Lancaster. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
A funeral service honoring Jim's life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11 AM. Family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jeffrey L. Blouse Memorial Scholarship Fund at Shepherd College, P.O. Box 5000, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.
