ISG to Examine the Changing Insurance Outsourcing Market

PR Newswire

STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 27, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a leading global technology research and advisory firm, has launched a research study examining the digital business process outsourcing (BPO) services market for the global insurance industry.

The study results will be published in a comprehensive ISG Provider Lens™ report, "Insurance BPO Digital Services 2019 — Life, Property & Casualty," set to be released in August. The report will take a holistic approach to examining the insurance BPO market, including a detailed review of strategy and management services, front- and middle-office services, back office/transaction processing and support services.

The report will look at the changing landscape of insurance outsourcing, said John Vonesh, partner, ISG Insurance. Insurance outsourcing "is no longer limited to just backend services," Vonesh said. "Insurance companies are seeking to partner with providers and strategically align themselves to support their businesses."

Enterprise buyers will be able to use information from the report to evaluate their current vendor relationships, potential new engagements and the portfolio of offerings available, while ISG advisors use the information to recommend providers to the firm's buy-side clients.

ISG has distributed surveys to 19 insurance outsourcing providers. Working in collaboration with ISG advisors, the research team will examine two quadrants representing the services in greatest demand, based on ISG's experience working with insurance industry clients. The two quadrants that will be covered are:

  • Life insurance, including outsourcing services such as consulting, technology enablement and managed services for types of insurance including life, annuity, healthcare and term;
  • Property and casualty insurance, including outsourcing services offering similar products and services for insurance including auto, theft, property and natural disasters.

The report will cover the global insurance outsourcing market and also examine products and services available in the U.S.

An archetype report also will be published as part of this study. This report, unique to ISG, will examine typical buyer types of insurance outsourcing services as observed by ISG advisors.

A list of identified providers and vendors and further details on the study are available here. Companies not listed as an insurance BPO vendor can contact ISG and ask to be included in the study.
