"Insurance companies have been benefitting from these illegal payments for years, but millions of Americans have still ended up with skyrocketing premiums, fewer choices, and coverage they can't use. These payments aren't 'stabilizing' the market, they're subsidizing special interests. Instead of wasting more hard-earned tax dollars to prop up Obamacare, lawmakers should rescue the millions of Americans suffering from the law's collapse by repealing it."
BACKGROUND
Obamacare's unappropriated CSR payments have been flowing illegally to insurers since 2014, yet insurers have been steadily fleeing the law's exchanges and raising premium rates each year.
In fact, despite all of these billions of dollars in subsidies to insurers, HHS recently reported that premiums for individual market plans have more than doubled since Obamacare's key provisions took effect.
