Industry Veteran Melissa McDermott Joins Everest Insurance® Division as Global Chief Actuary

WARREN, New Jersey - August 28, 2023 - Everest Insurance®, the insurance division of Everest Group, Ltd. (NYSE: EG), a global underwriting leader providing best-in-class property, casualty, and specialty reinsurance and insurance solutions, has appointed Melissa McDermott as Global Chief Actuary, effective immediately.

Ms. McDermott joins Everest's experienced leadership team of global executives, reporting directly to Mike Karmilowicz, President and CEO of Everest Insurance®. She brings extensive experience overseeing global teams and actuarial strategies across the Property and Casualty industry. She will partner with the actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams across the global Insurance organization, as well as Everest's reserving teams.

Ms. McDermott's actuarial career spans nearly three-decades and includes actuarial leadership roles for some of the world's largest global insurance companies. She was most recently Chief Actuary for North America General Insurance at AIG where she led the pricing, reserving and portfolio management strategy for several lines of business. Prior to that, she was Head of Global Specialty, Insurance Pricing at AXA XL and spent eight years at Travelers, where she held a variety of roles as part of the company's actuarial and executive leadership rotational program. Ms. McDermott earned a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science from The Ohio State University and is a long-term member of the Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), as well as a member of the advisory board for Women in Leadership Program at the University of New Haven.
