All Humana USAA Honor plans include $0 monthly premiums, a Part B giveback, and dental, vision and hearing coverage

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Humana Inc. (NYSE HUM) and USAA Life Insurance Company (USAA Life) announced the expansion of their co-branded Medicare Advantage plans designed with veterans in mind to provide coverage options that complement health care benefits received through Veterans Affairs (VA).

For the first time, all of Humana’s veteran-focused Medicare Advantage plans are now co-branded as Humana USAA Honor plans and will be available to more beneficiaries in more locations for the 2024 plan year. The Humana USAA Honor plan will be an option for about 58 million Medicare beneficiaries in 2,655 counties nationwide, and the Humana USAA Honor with Rx plan will be available for nearly 18 million Medicare beneficiaries in 681 counties.

These plans are available to Medicare-eligible individuals during the Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan Annual Election Period Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, with coverage beginning Jan. 1.

Humana USAA Honor plans are available to anyone eligible for Medicare, including veterans’ spouses, but they are designed in a way that may work alongside the benefits a veteran receives through VA health care. Humana first introduced its Honor Medicare Advantage plans in 2020, and in 2022, Humana and USAA collaborated to design and launch the first Honor plan that included prescription drug coverage.

“The addition of the USAA name to all Humana Honor plans reinforces our strong partnership and the commitment of both of our organizations to continue supporting and caring for veterans, their families and veteran causes,” said George Renaudin, Humana’s President of Medicare and Medicaid. “We are proud to offer Medicare Advantage plans that create the flexibility and opportunity to choose civilian doctors and specialists, allowing our members to maximize their health care benefits.”

Humana USAA Honor plans combine the health care experience of Humana with the veteran expertise of USAA to support the health care needs of veterans, their families, and all those with Medicare.

In 2024, every single Humana USAA Honor plan offers:

  • $0 monthly plan premium

  • Part B Medicare premium reduction, which means less money is taken out of the beneficiary’s Social Security check

  • Dental, vision and hearing coverage

  • Large network of providers

  • Worldwide coverage for emergency care

Veterans and Medicare households have access to Humana Customer Care specialists who collaborated with USAA to receive special training to better serve the unique healthcare needs of veterans – many specialists are veterans themselves and can make it easier for them to manage their health.

“At USAA, we are proud to serve those who have served our nation,” said Mary Forey, Assistant Vice President for Health Insurance at USAA. “By teaming up with Humana to offer Medicare plans designed with veterans in mind, we aim to provide veterans and the military community with the support and guidance they need to achieve financial security and peace of mind.”

Individuals can visit Humana.com/Medicare/Veterans or call toll-free 1-833-585-8387 (VETS) (TTY: 711) 8 a.m.-8 p.m., seven days a week, to speak to a licensed sales agent who is trained to support the unique needs of veterans.

Humana has served Medicare beneficiaries for decades, with nearly 8.7 million Medicare members in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, as of June 30, 2023. Nearly 5.8 million of those members are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.
