How to apply for flood-related disaster assistance
Staff WriterPerry County Tribune
As announced last week, President Trump has approved Ohio's major disaster declaration for the storms and flooding that occurred Aug. 10–23. U.S. Congressman Troy Balderson has shared the following information on how to apply for flood-related disaster assistance:
If you have homeowners, renters, or flood insurance, please file your insurance claim before applying. FEMA cannot cover losses already covered by insurance, but you may qualify for assistance with expenses your policy does not cover.
Your phone number, email, current mailing address, and damaged home address.
Your Social Security number.
A general list of damage and losses.
Your annual household income.
Banking information, if you would like direct deposit.
Your insurance policy number or insurance agent/company information, if applicable.
Even if you previously visited a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) or reported your damage, you still need to submit a FEMA application if you have not already done so.
"FEMA personnel are traveling to Ohio, and locations for in-person assistance are being coordinated with Ohio Emergency Management," Balderson said in an email message. "We will share those details as they become available. You can apply online or by phone now. Our work isn't over. If you need help navigating the process, please contact my office at 614-523-2555. My team and I will continue working to help you access the resources available as you recover.
