House Conducted Three Committee Hearings on Sept. 7

WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 -- The U.S. House of Representatives conducted three committee hearings on Sept. 7:

*Energy and Commerce:

Subcommittee on Health:

Markup on:

- H.R. 3325, the "ACE Kids Act"; H.R. 3891, to amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to clarify the authority of State Medicaid fraud and abuse control units to investigate and prosecute cases of Medicaid patient abuse and neglect in any setting, and for other purposes;

- H.R. 5306, the "EMPOWER Care Act";

- legislation to amend title XXVII of the Public Health Service Act and title XVIII of the Social Security Act to prohibit group health plans, health insurance issuers, prescription drug plan sponsors, and Medicare Advantage organizations from limiting certain information on drug prices;

- legislation on the Strengthening the Health Care Fraud Prevention Task Force Act of 2018;

- legislation to amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to provide the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission with access to certain drug rebate information.

H.R. 3891, legislation to amend title XXVII of the Public Health Service Act and title XVIII of the Social Security Act to prohibit group health plans, health insurance issuers, prescription drug plan sponsors, and Medicare Advantage organizations from limiting certain information on drug prices, and legislation to amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to provide the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission with access to certain drug rebate information were forwarded to the full Committee, without amendment. H.R. 5306, H.R. 3325, and legislation on the Strengthening the Health Care Fraud Prevention Task Force Act of 2018 were forwarded to the full Committee, as amended.

Subcommittee on Terrorism and Illicit Finance:

"Survey of Terrorist Groups and Their Means of Financing". Testimony was heard from public witnesses.

*Transportation and Infrastructure:

Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment:

"Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America: Water Resources Projects and Policy, Part II". Testimony was heard from Major General Scott Spellmon, Deputy Commanding General, Civil and Emergency Operations, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
