HoneyQuote Launches Flood Insurance Marketplace Ahead of New Mandatory Coverage Requirements

Business Wire

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
HoneyQuote, an online marketplace revolutionizing the way homeowners shop for insurance, has added flood insurance to its platform, giving Florida homeowners a fast and easy way to protect their properties against flood risk before new mandatory requirements take effect.

HoneyQuote’s platform will now allow users to compare flood insurance quotes from multiple private carriers online, enabling coverage to be shopped, selected, and purchased in minutes. Customers simply enter their address, and HoneyQuote’s advanced technology generates personalized flood insurance options from top-rated providers.

Starting January 1, 2025, Citizens Property Insurance Corporation will require personal lines policyholders with replacement costs of $500,000 or more to obtain flood insurance. This requirement is part of a phased rollout that will extend to all Citizens policyholders, regardless of property value, by 2027. Homeowners who fail to comply risk losing their Citizens coverage altogether, leaving them unprotected or forced into more expensive alternatives.

“With flood insurance requirements tightening and storms becoming more severe, homeowners need a simple and reliable way to get covered,” said Freddy Seikaly, CEO of HoneyQuote. “Our flood insurance marketplace empowers Floridians to shop, compare, and secure affordable policies without the stress of navigating a complicated process. We’re putting control back into the hands of homeowners when they need it most.”

The launch comes as Florida homeowners contend with growing flood risks. Recent storms, including Hurricanes Helene and Milton, have left a trail of devastation across the state. Milton alone delivered record-breaking rainfall of over 18 inches in St. Petersburg and storm surges of up to six feet in Naples.

Meanwhile, federal flood map updates have pushed tens of thousands of additional properties into high-risk zones, making flood insurance mandatory for many for the first time.

“Florida homeowners are now navigating a rapidly changing insurance landscape,” said Justin Zemaitis, Chief Insurance Officer at HoneyQuote. “By partnering with leading private insurers, we’re providing tailored flood insurance options that empower residents to make informed decisions about protecting their homes.”

Since its inception, HoneyQuote has partnered with top insurance carriers and helped thousands of Floridians secure home insurance with confidence. The launch of its flood insurance marketplace marks another milestone in its ongoing commitment to addressing the needs of homeowners across Florida.
