HOEVEN SECURES COMMITMENT FROM RMA ADMINISTRATOR TO ENSURE CROP INSURANCE ADJUSTORS, PREVENT DELAYS FOR AG PRODUCERS FACING DROUGHT
Congressional Documents & Publications
WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven this week secured a commitment from the head of the Risk Management Agency (RMA) to ensure there are loss adjustors to assess drought damage in North Dakota. After learning that agriculture producers were facing delays in making claims due to the high volume of requests during the drought, Hoeven called Heather Manzano, Acting Administrator for the RMA at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The senator urged Manzano to hold insurance companies to their contracts and ensure they provide adequate personnel to address claims in a timely fashion, which the administrator committed to do.
"In such an uncertain time, our farmers and ranchers need to know that their policies have them covered," Hoeven said. "By securing additional loss adjustors, we can prevent delays for our producers and provide peace of mind."
As chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee and a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, Hoeven is working to ensure that farm bill programs work well for farmers and ranchers, helping them weather the drought and maintain their operations.
