Hoeven, Cramer, Armstrong Urge the President to Issue Disaster Declaration for Spring Flooding in North Dakota

WASHINGTON, May 24 -- The office of Sen. John Hoeven, R-North Dakota, issued the following news release:

Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer and Congressman Kelly Armstrong today urged President Trump to approve the State of North Dakota's request for a presidential major disaster declaration covering this year's widespread spring flooding. The state is seeking a declaration for the period from March 21 to April 29 and has requested that assistance be made available under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the impacted counties and to help reduce these regions' risk of future flooding.

"Spring flooding has impacted more than a dozen counties, compounding the issues from an already challenging winter season, especially for our agriculture producers," the delegation said. "That's why we're urging the President to issue this disaster declaration and make assistance available to bolster local recovery efforts, as well as to prepare for and prevent future disasters."
