HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. (HIG) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $216 million.
On a per-share basis, the Hartford, Connecticut-based company said it had net income of 54 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains and pretax gains, were 31 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 77 cents per share.
The insurance and financial services company posted revenue minus net realized capital gains of $4.62 billion. Its total revenue was $4.68 billion.
The Hartford shares have risen 1 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 6 percent. They closed Thursday at $43.93, a decrease of 6 percent in the last 12 months.
