Hart Cunningham Discusses Current Healthcare Problems

PR Web

SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) May 22, 2018

With healthcare costs in the United States consuming roughly 40% of the Gross National Product (GDP) each year, or $2 trillion, it is clear this is one of the top concerns of both the American people and the federal government. While the Affordable Care Act and Medicare attempted to reduce those costs, they effectively restrict themselves to wildly different interpretations by each state.

Moving Beyond Obamacare

In a recent video statement, 2020 presidential candidate Hart Cunningham highlighted the numerous "daunting aspects to the healthcare crisis: the opioid addiction, cancer levels that have never been seen before, birth defects, the healthcare bureaucracy corruption." At the same time, Cunningham was quick to point out that his campaign is an "optimistic" one.

Cunningham called for utilizing American resources "to allow all nurses, all doctors a higher wage, by allowing more supply capabilities within their sector." Further, he envisions a country where "any American can walk in and have their healthcare ailments addressed in a timely and cost-efficient fashion."

One solution is a single-payer healthcare system, which is precisely what the Hart 2020 campaign advocates: healthcare that is "flexible and capable of changing to meet the medical needs of the individual."

Education & Cost Controls to Cure America's Healthcare Woes

In his recent campaign video, 2020 presidential candidate Hart Cunningham pointed out that education is another critical aspect of this reform, stating, "We must be open to educating American families about their nutritional needs." He highlighted the fact that "42 million Americans are on the SNAP program, but food stamps are not allowing Americans to live a healthier lifestyle." Calling back to former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama's campaign to improve both children and adults' nutrition habits, Cunningham placed significant responsibility on individual Americans to lead "a healthier lifestyle," or else risk a worsening "healthcare market, corruption… and extensive abuse of the system."

Another critical element to address is the exorbitant cost of healthcare in America today. As the Cunningham campaign points out, Americans pay $2,800 more for healthcare each year than residents of any other industrial country. Part of that is because 47 million Americans are left uninsured.

Progressive legislation, rigorous oversight by regulatory committees, and proactive healthy behavior by both individual citizens and the federal government could be the prescription for restoring health to the American healthcare system and its people.
