GrantWorks donates $5,000 to the Victoria County Long-Term Recovery Group

Victoria Advocate (TX)

May 15--GrantWorks, Inc. has donated $5,000 to the Victoria County Long-Term Recovery Group's Unmet Needs Committee, according to a news release.

Each week, the LTRG Unmet Needs Committee reviews cases of families struggling to recover from Hurricane Harvey and approves funding for unmet needs after Federal Emergency Management Agency and insurance payments have been used. The survivors' remaining unmet needs have been verified by case workers.

The funding comes from donations by individuals and companies to local nonprofits, churches and national organizations. The funds are being used to help repair roofs, windows, wheelchair ramps and interiors and address other basic needs.

"We have seen up close how effective the Victoria County Long-Term Recovery Group is in helping as many people as possible -- and in the most efficient way possible, too," said Donna Johnson, associate vice president of GrantWorks, Inc. "We are glad our contribution will help continue this much-needed work."

Heather Linville, chairwoman of the recovery group's Unmet Needs Committee, said this gift will help more families repairing their homes and lives after Harvey.

"We are so grateful for the donation as we work to obtain more funding for the many other families in this area still struggling to repair and rebuild," she said.

Nearly $500,000 has been spent to help more than 300 families. Hundreds more are on the list for casework, verification of data and home inspections as caseworkers and committee members continue working through the list.

GrantWorks is Texas' leading grant management firm, specializing in state and federal grant programs covering infrastructure, economic development, housing and planning services, and is the state's number-one provider of grant administration services under the Community Development Block Grant and Disaster Recovery program.
