Grady Memorial Hospital agrees to participate with Blue Cross preferred network

Express-Star, The (Chickasha, OK)

March 10--After many discussions between Grady Memorial Hospital and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma effective March 1 the hospital will be participating in the Blue Preferred PPO network.

Some of the discussions which took place will now help county residents and also county employees for Grady County to be able to have the benefit of in-network benefits at Grady Memorial.

One of the key members in the discussion was Grady Memorial Hospital CEO Kean Spellman and he said this will be a big help to have this network available for the patients.

"Grady Memorial Hospital is owned by the county and we are grateful to our voters for helping to fund our new building," Spellman said. "It is important to us to add the Blue Preferred PPO Network to our menu of approved plans for our patients. We are a vital resource to many residents in Grady County and we are pleased we could come to an agreement with BCBSOK and improve the healthcare coverage in our county."

Another key member in the discussions was Grady County Commissioner Windle Hardy who was in meetings with several officials from Blue Cross to get a deal done as one of his committee priorities.

Now with the agreement in place, residents who have this plan and county employees will have more access to doctors at Grady Memorial with an affordable price for patients.

Dr. Joseph Cunningham, Divisional Senior Vice President of Health Care Deliver and Chief Medical Officer for BCBSOK said it will also help many rural residents in their hunt for care givers close to home.

"This agreement allows more Oklahomans living in Grady County and surrounding areas the benefit of having a health care provider closer to home," Cunningham said.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma has been an insurance choice for Oklahomans for 76 years and serve over 800,000 residents of Oklahoma as one of the largest providers in the state.

With the expansion of the Blue Preferred PPO Network there is a possibility of adding additional physicians and health care professionals through the network.

If enrolled with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma, patrons can go to the provider finder section on the BCBSOK website to find out more information about in-network providers.

The website is located at bcbsok.com and is a division of Health Care Service Corporation which is the country's largest customer-owned health insurer and fourth largest health insurer overall.
