Gov. Reynolds Signs 21 Bills Into Law

DES MOINES, Iowa, April 4 -- Gov. Kim Reynolds, R-Iowa, issued the following news release:

Gov. Kim Reynolds signed the following 21 bills into law on Wednesday:

House File 2200: an Act authorizing the Terrace Hill Commission to establish an endowment fund for musical arts to support piano competitions and scholarships. This bill passed the Iowa House on Feb. 21, 93-5 and the Iowa Senate on March 26, 33-14.

House File 2239: an Act relating to noninsurance business transactions regulated by the insurance division of the Department of Commerce, by providing for regulated securities and exchanges, and financial records associated with the sale of cemetery and funeral merchandise and services. This bill passed the Iowa House on Feb. 20, 98-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 26, 47-0.

House File 2253: an Act regarding competitive bidding requirements for construction by a private party of property to be lease-purchased by certain government entities and including effective date and applicability provisions. This bill passed the Iowa Senate on March 27, 27-20 and the Iowa House on March 38, 59-41.

House File 2254: an Act relating to 911 emergency telephone and internet communication systems, making appropriations, and including effective date provisions. This bill passed the Iowa House on Feb. 26, 98-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 27, 47-0.

House File 2256: an Act relating to the submission of certain reports by the Department of Transportation and county engineers. This bill passed the Iowa House on Feb. 21, 98-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 26, 47-0.

House File 2281: an Act relating to confinement feeding operations maintaining fishes, by providing for the calculation of animal unit capacity, making penalties applicable, and including effective date provisions. This bill passed the Iowa House on Feb. 19, 97-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 28, 45-1.

House File 2304: an Act relating to motor vehicles approaching certain stationary motor vehicles, and providing penalties. This bill passed the Iowa House on March 5, 96-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 28, 46-0.

House File 2321: an Act relating to the duties of the Department of Workforce Development regarding criminal history checks and certain state unemployment insurance law matters and including effective date provisions. This bill passed the Iowa House on March 5, 96-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 28, 44-2.

House File 2340: an Act relating to controversies involving fence viewers. This bill passed the Iowa House on Feb. 20, 98-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 28, 46-0.

House File 2382: an Act relating to the composition of the engineering and land surveying examining board. This bill passed the Iowa House on March 6, 96-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 27, 47-0.

House File 2390: an Act relating to terminology changes in education-related Iowa code references to foreign languages. This bill passed the Iowa House on March 12, 98-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 26, 47-0.

House File 2402: an Act relating to an agent's termination or suspension of authority for a power of attorney. This bill passed the Iowa House on Feb. 27, 97-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 27, 47-0.

House File 2407: an Act relating to the application of pesticides into lakes, and providing penalties. This bill passed the Iowa Senate on March 19, 47-0 and the Iowa House on March 28, 100-0.

House File 2420: an Act establishing an Iowa National Service Corps Program administered by the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service. This bill passed the Iowa House on March 7, 97-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 28, 46-0.

House File 2425: an Act establishing a physical therapy licensure compact. This bill passed the Iowa House on March 5, 96-0 and the Iowa Senate on March 28, 46-0.

House File 2439: an Act relating to horse racing regulated by the Racing and Gaming Commission. This bill passed the Iowa House on March 12, 96-1 and the Iowa Senate on March 26, 47-0.

Senate File 2241: an Act relating to the commission of a parole violation or a criminal offense while on parole. This bill passed the Iowa Senate on March 12, 49-0 and the Iowa House on March 22, 94-0.

Senate File 2257: an Act defining marketplace contractors and designating marketplace contractors as independent contractors under specified circumstances. This bill passed the Iowa Senate on Feb. 19, 48-1 and the Iowa House on March 20, 99-0.

Senate File 2271: an Act relating to motor carriers, and making penalties applicable. This bill passed the Iowa Senate on Feb. 19, 47-2 and the Iowa House on March 19, 96-0.

Senate File 2274: an Act requiring the Department of Education to include references to state or federal statutory or regulatory provisions necessitating the inclusion of information in reports filed with the department. This bill passed the Iowa Senate on Feb. 20, 37-11 and the Iowa House on March 20, 94-5.

Senate File 2333: an Act relating to amusement concessions concerning allowable prizes and including effective date provisions. This bill passed the Iowa House on March 6, 66-30 and the Iowa Senate on March 20, 44-5.
