GEICO Portfolio Identity Theft Program Offers Even More Protection for Consumers

Business Wire

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- GEICO–the company known for affordable, quality auto insurance–is offering consumers peace of mind with the next generation of identity theft protection. The GEICO Portfolio Identity Theft Protection Program is a newly-improved tool designed to help safeguard you from malicious data attacks targeting your personal information.

Backed by $1 million of insurance to cover out-of-pocket expenses related to identity fraud, the program provides immediate credit monitoring to alert you of suspicious purchases. A sleek online dashboard allows you to view your ID-theft risk level, activity alerts and credit score.

The GEICO Portfolio Identity Theft Protection Program’s new safeguards also include:

  • Improved credit information using Vantage Credit Score, a smarter and more consistent scoring method across all three major credit bureaus.
  • Enhanced protection from dark web activity by monitoring additional personal data like social security number, driver’s license number and passport information.
  • Around-the-clock U.S.-based assistance and full service resolution, meaning enrollees won’t have to do the legwork to correct the problem should their identifications be compromised.

The GEICO Portfolio Identity Theft Protection Program offers cost-efficient options for individuals, couples and families.

“With coverage options starting at $79 a year, the GEICO Portfolio Identity Theft Protection Program is the most affordable option on the market,” said John Zinno, president of GEICO Insurance Agency. “This product was designed for those looking for added peace of mind as the threat of identity theft continues to grow.”

According to the 2017 Identity Fraud Study from Javelin Research, identity theft resulted in $16 billion being stolen from 15.4 million Americans. Those figures are up from 2016, when $15.3 billion was taken from 13.1 million victims.
