Gaston College board of trustees elects new chairman
Gaston Gazette (Gastonia, NC)
A Belmont man has been elected to chairman the Gaston College board of trustees.
Brad Overcash was recently elected to the position, where he will lead the 15-member governing body of Gaston College, which oversees the college's three campuses in Dallas, Belmont and Lincolnton.
He has served on the board since 2016, and succeeds Jim Watson as chairman.
Overcash is an attorney and partner with Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP in Charlotte. According to the firm, Overcash represents clients in a broad range of litigation, including professional negligence defense, long-term care/nursing home defense, and general litigation. He also practices in the area of insurance coverage.
"It is an honor to be elected by my fellow board members to serve as the chairman of the board of trustees," Overcash stated, in a media release. "Gaston College provides opportunities for the citizens of Gaston and Lincoln counties, and beyond, to better their lives through education and training. I look forward to continuing to promote the college and support the people of North Carolina."
Overcash lives in Belmont. He earned his bachelor's degree from UNC Chapel Hill and his juris doctorate from the University of Mississippi.
The board of trustees typically meets monthly, but not less than quarterly, in the Myers Center Board Room located on the Dallas campus.
