Forethought Adds New BlackRock Index To Annuity Products
Indianapolis, IN — Forethought Life Insurance Company (Forethought), a subsidiary of Global Atlantic Financial Group Limited, has announced it is adding the new BlackRock Diversa™ Volatility Control Index* interest crediting strategy to its fixed index annuity (FIA) products.
As a result of the initiative, Forethought is able to provide customers with a unique and compelling option for their retirement savings. Under the agreement, the index will be made available for Forethought’s entire suite of fixed index annuity products.
“BlackRock is a highly respected firm and we are delighted to leverage their expertise as the fixed index annuity market continues to grow,” said Paula Nelson, Head of Retirement Distribution at Forethought.
The addition of a BlackRock index is reflective of Forethought’s ongoing development of FIAs as a core strategy to address the financial planning needs of today’s retirees. Sales of the company’s FIAs have more than tripled in the last 12 months.
“We are pleased to partner with Forethought to offer an index with growth and diversification opportunities,” said Raman Suri, Head of iShares Insurance at BlackRock. “This index also addresses market volatility factors with a focus on broader market trends in an effort to deliver superior service to customers in the fixed index annuity space.”
The BlackRock Diversa Volatility Control Index offers a globally-diversified composition of select U.S.-listed iShares ETFs that dynamically responds to trends in asset returns, which in turn, provides the potential for more consistent returns than a traditional stock index. Within applicable fixed index annuities from Forethought products, clients have the opportunity for interest crediting potential linked to the performance of the index, subject to a cap and with the downside market protection of a 0% crediting floor.
