NORTH PORT — FEMA will issue revised flood maps that will impact portions of North Port, with the new Flood Insurance Rate Maps taking effect March 27.
North Port and FEMA officials suggest residents speak with their insurance company to see if flood insurance is needed or if the FIRMs will impact rates.
According to city officials, areas west of the Myakka River that will see changes made are parts of Gran Paradiso, The Preserve, Renaissance, Oasis, Lake Geraldine, a part of Wellen Park and Myakka State Forest.
Areas east of the Myakka River that will see changes made are: parts of Talon Bay, Duck Key and commercial areas north and south of U.S. 41 near Myakkahatchee Creek or connected waterways.
