FEMA Borrows from U.S. Treasury to Ensure Flood Claims Processing Continues in High Gear

Business Wire

Wright Flood Reports More than $200 MM in Payments Made for Harvey and Irma-Related Damage to Date

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Wright Flood:

  • As the nation’s largest writer of flood insurance policies, Wright Flood alerts policyholders and claimants that the National Flood Insurance Program is sufficiently funded to continue assisting all insured survivors of the recent storms. FEMA has borrowed from the US Treasury and continues to work with all WYO companies to pay claims as quickly as possible so recovery can continue. Getting all remaining claims processed and paid remains the top priority.
  • FEMA has confirmed the program has over $6 billion available to pay all current claims and make good on contracts with policyholders. Moreover, the NFIP has never failed to pay a claim that is owed.
  • Wright Flood reports that more than $200 MM in payments for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma-related damage have been made to help insured customers begin rebuilding their lives.
  • Teams of adjusters are on the ground in all areas impacted by the storms, with claims processing to remain in high-gear until all outstanding Harvey and Irma-related claims have been processed and paid.
  • Hurricane Harvey and Irma claimants with previously reported claims can text the word “status” to 727-777-7066, add their 5-9 digit claim number and receive their current claim status, the date and check number of the most recent payment issued, and the name and phone number of their adjusting firm.
  • Claimants can also receive claims status updates by registering their policy online at the Wright Flood customer portal at wrightflood.com. To register online, policyholders input their policy number and their client id, which are available on the declarations page of their flood policy. Claims and policy information is then available online as well as features such as open a claim, make a payment and check claim and policy payment status.
  • Policyholders can open a new claim in several ways, including:
