Failed Connecticut Dem Gov Dan Malloy Blames Everyone But Himself for Aetna Departure
Targeted News Service (Press Releases)
WASHINGTON, June 1 -- The Republican Governors Association issued the following news release:
After it was confirmed yesterday that major health insurance provider Aetna is looking to relocate its longtime headquarters and jobs outside of Connecticut's high-tax, anti-business policies, Failed Democrat Governor Dan Malloy decided to host a bizarre press conference to address his actions (and inactions) to keep the Connecticut company's headquarters in the state. When asked about his relationship with Aetna's CEO Mark Bertolini and the fact that Malloy had not met with him to discuss their possible departure, Malloy decided to lay the blame solely at Bertolini, stating he had a "hunch" that Bertolini played a "very large role" in the company's decision to move its headquarters, while refusing to shoulder any responsibility himself. Malloy spent years championing legislation that made it tougher to grow a business or create jobs in Connecticut, but now that another large company is bolting the state, Malloy's refuses to take any responsibility.
Even after his constant tax hikes and job killing regulations have caused across the board credit downgrades, record job losses, a devastating budget shortfall, residents fleeing the state en masse, and high-profile business departures like General Electric and Aetna, Dan Malloy refuses to take any blame for Connecticut's economic catastrophe.
