FACT CHECK: Sec. Price Contradicts Dir. Mulvaney on Trump Budget Medicaid Cuts
Congressional Documents & Publications
Today in a Senate Finance hearing, HHS Secretary Tom Price "insisted that the White House's fiscal 2018 budget would not slash Medicaid funding, despite its inclusion of a House-passed Obamacare repeal plan that calls for more than $800 billion in projected cuts to the program" [Source: Politico Pro ]. The budget also lists an additional Medicaid cut of $610 billion relative to current law.
Sec. Price's claim is fact-checked by his own colleague in the Trump Administration. Two weeks ago at a House Budget Committee Hearing, OMB Director Mick Mulvaney, the author of the Trump Budget, confirmed that the Trump budget cuts Medicaid by $1.3 trillion over ten years.
