DUI charges after car crashed into Galesburg home

Aug. 12--GALESBURG -- A Galesburg man is charged with driving under the influence after he drove his car into a house on East Main Street early Sunday.

According to a Galesburg police report and charging documents, Archie G. Treadway, 25, of Academy Street, is charged with felony aggravated DUI/alcohol/no insurance along with misdemeanor counts of resisting a police officer and DUI/alcohol.

He was also issued traffic tickets of operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol.

Authorities responded to a home in the 1700 block of East Main Street at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday for a crash there. The 25-year-old homeowner told police he heard the crash and came outside.

A car was found to have gone partially into the residence when police responded.

Witnesses and those in the crash told police Treadway was driving at the time of the crash and was seen bleeding from his nose after the crash, the police report said. Blood was only found inside the vehicle on the driver's front and side airbags, and Treadway was the only one bleeding at the crash.

Treadway said a female occupant was driving because he was too "buzzed to be driving," the police report said.

The Galesburg man refused a breath test at the Galesburg Police Department after his arrest.

Treadway had his bond set at $300 needed to get out of jail, or he could post his driver's license and $100, which is standard in DUI cases.

The Galesburg man also reportedly said he had car insurance at the time of the crash, which could lead to a dismissal of at least the felony charge against him. He returns to court at 9 a.m. Aug. 26 for his first appearance.
