Driscoll Health Plan Improves HEDIS® Measure Scores with Vital Data Technology Affinitē Predictive Platform

Business Wire

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Driscoll Health Plan achieves HEDIS improvement of 3-9% by using Vital Data Technology’s Affinitē platform. Vital Data Technology’s HEDIS, predictive analytics and provider engagement capabilities combined with Driscoll’s financial incentive program for providers has been proven to be an innovative and impactful approach to streamline care gap communication and improve HEDIS scores.

The study compared the outcomes in 2015 with the prior year, when Driscoll was not utilizing Vital Data Technology and had the incentive program in place. The study also compared the outcomes in 2016, with those in 2015. The 2015 outcome study was based on the HEDIS measures for two parameters: Annual Well Child Visit for adolescents 12-21 years of age (AWC), and Annual Well Child Visit for children 3-6 years of age (W34). The 2016 outcome study included both of those measures, plus a third measure, Six Office Well Child Visits from 0 – 15 months of age (W15).

The 2015 study showed the following results:

  • AWC: a 4% year-over-year improvement of overall score, and a 32% increase in compliant patient count
  • W34: a 3% year-over-year improvement of overall score, and a 14% increase in compliant patient count

The 2016 study showed the following results:

  • AWC: Physicians using the Vital Data Technology platform achieved overall scores that were 9% higher than non-users.
  • W34: Physicians using the Vital Data Technology platform achieved overall scores that were 5% higher than non-users.
  • W15: a 4% year-over-year improvement of overall score. Physicians using the Vital Data Technology platform achieved overall scores that were 8% higher than non-users. These results were realized with a 20% increase in the eligible population.

The study also showed that there was a strong positive correlation between the number of times the physician accessed the Vital Data Technology Affinitē platform and the overall HEDIS score improvement.

“It is great to see our collaboration with Driscoll increase adoption and utilization from physician through the incentive program. It is even more meaningful to see it lead to tangible HEDIS results that are so meaningful in today’s healthcare environment,” stated Matt D’Ambrosia, CEO of Vital Data Technology.

“Working with Vital Data Technology has improved our capability to communicate targeted care gap interventions to physicians. This is beneficial to our members and physicians,” stated Mary Dale Peterson, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of Driscoll Health Plan.
