WASHINGTON, Feb. 10 -- Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro, D-Conn., issued the following news release:
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding the Senate's vote to confirm Tom Price as the Secretary of Health and Human Services. DeLauro is the Senior Democrat on the Appropriations subcommittee responsible for funding the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.
"The Senate's confirmation of Tom Price is just the next step in the Administration's promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act and leave millions of Americans without insurance. Mr. Price has long advocated for privatizing Medicare and repealing the ACA, and with his confirmation, Republicans in Congress will have a close ally in their misguided attempts to undermine our nation's health care system.
"Further, Mr. Price continues to be dogged by ethical allegations and his close relationship with the pharmaceutical industry raises a number of red flags at a time when the costs of prescription drugs are skyrocketing. Mr. Price must do everything he can to address conflicts of interest. With his confirmation, Mr. Price must now work for the American people, not the pharmaceutical industry."
