Deadline to enroll for health insurance is Friday

Dec. 14--BOISE -- Friday is the deadline for Idahoans to apply for health and dental coverage for 2018 under the Affordable Care Act. Your Health Idaho is extending its hours of service to accommodate anticipated high interest -- from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Representatives can be reached toll-free at 1-855-944-3246. Consumers who have questions after they enroll can call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Many Idahoans have found coverage for little to no cost for premiums in 2018. "This is a new type of sticker shock," Pat Kelly, executive director of Your Health Idaho, said in a statement. "Due to federal funding changes, tax credits are much higher this year. The results range from more robust coverage for the same amount to premiums as low as zero dollars per month for a limited plan." In 2018, consumers have more choice than ever before with seven carriers offering a total of 299 medical and dental plans. Your Health Idaho is the only place where Idahoans can receive a tax credit to offset the cost of coverage.
